WHY HOST AN EXCHANGE STUDENT?
WILL I BE
AS A HOST?
Throughout your journey of hosting, SCCE has plenty of staff working continually to assist you through the program. Our National office is always ready to take your call on our 24-hour number, and your area will also have a Local Coordinator close by to support you and your student throughout your time together.
WHY AREN’T HOST FAMILIES PAID?
The student is not a boarder but an accepted member of the family – with all the privileges and responsibilities attached. Students are responsible for adjusting their behavior to the values and priorities of the family, particularly the hours, chores, customs, food, TV watching and computer use. The host family does not pay any medical or educational fees which are the responsibility of student. Schools must be willing to waive tuition fees.
CAN I HOST AS WELL AS GO ON EXCHANGE?
Absolutely! In fact, we encourage this! Imagine adding to the overseas opportunities you’ve already had, or will soon have, by increasing your foreign language skills, making friends, gaining cultural insights and having a lot of fun. This could be a chance to “give back” the hospitality you’ve received, or simply to add to your own understanding of what it would be like to go on exchange.
HOW DO HOST
SCCE is continually receiving profiles for students from around the world who want to come to Australia and New Zealand. Once you contact SCCE, we will discuss your family’s interests and hobbies. From there we will share profiles of students that may match. You choose your student and the duration for which they stay, ranging from 2-3 to 5 to 10 months.
WHO ARE THE
OVERSEAS AFFILIATES OF SCCE?
Overseas affiliate organisations are the student exchange companies that have been carefully selected to exclusively represent SCCE and support our students. All affiliates have procedures and programs to ensure consistency of management, which is of particular importance in an emergency. Constant communication, performance reviews, staff meetings and contracts flow back and forth throughout the year.
