Classic Exchange in The Netherlands

Our traditional high school program

Our Classic High School program is a traditional exchange program. It is true immersion, living with a host family and attending the local high school. Programs are available for a Semester or an Academic Year or shorter programs for 2-3 Months.

When students have finished elementary school in The Netherlands they go straight into secondary school. Based on advice from the elementary school and a series of tests, a choice is made for students as to the high school they attend. These include VMBO (schools that combine vocational training with theoretical education in maths, history, arts and languages), HAVO (this is a higher general form of continued education), or VWO (education that is tailored to university preparation). Exchange students are enrolled in the local school based on their academic records, and age.
