With Southern Cross Cultural Exchange, you have a unique opportunity to choose your preferred location for your exchange in Germany. Additional fees apply.

Age of students: 15–17 years
Departure: August
Language requirements: intermediate German reading & listening. Level A2 Goethe-Zertifikat required
Visa: Intermediate German reading and listening skills required (Level A2 Goethe-Zertifikat or equivalent)
Soft Landing Camp: Yes, in Mannheim
School day: Normally from 8 to 15
Subjects: There are both compulsory subjects and electives

Our selection of area requests
In Germany, we exclusively offer a range of regions. You can choose from a City Choice or a Region Choice.
City Choice – request your preferred city
Students who wish to be placed in a particular city can add the City Choice at an additional cost.
Please note that the number of spots available in each city are limited to one per city. These include Berlin, Hamburg, Cologne and Munich.
Please note: Should a change of host family be necessary during the program, the chosen city cannot be guaranteed again. Eligibility criteria apply.

Region Choice – request your preferred region
For those who would like to be placed in a particular region in Germany, it is possible to add a Regional Choice at an additional cost. Students can choose from North, South, East or West.
Please note that the number of spots available on each regional choice are limited. To guarantee a spot, we recommend sending applications as soon as possible. First come, first served!

Eastern Germany
This is your choice if you want to study as close as possible to Berlin or important German cities such as Dresden and Leipzig.
In Eastern Germany, you find the states of Berlin, Brandenburg, Sachsen, Sachsen-Anhalt, and Thüringen.

This is your choice if you would like to be placed near the cities of Hamburg and Bremen or close to Denmark, Netherlands or Poland.
In Northern Germany, you find the states of Bremen, Hamburg, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Niedersachsen, and Schleswig-Holstein.

Do you want to get close to cities such as Munich, Stuttgart, Nürnberg and Mannheim? Then Southern Germany is your option!
In Southern Germany, you find the states of Baden-Württemberg and Bayern.

In Western Germany, you find the popular German cities of Frankfurt, Cologne, Dortmund, and Düsseldorf. You will also be close to France, Belgium, and Luxembourg when studying here.
In Western Germany, you find the states of Hessen, Nordrhein-Westfalen, Rheinland-Pfalz, and Saarland.
